Day 1

Day 1 Lake Nakuru National Park

You've been dreaming of your safari for so long and now it's finally about to begin. You'll meet your guide who will tell you everything you need to know to get your safari started. We're as excited as you are to get your trip underway.

On your visit to Lake Nakuru National Park, you can expect some fantastic wildlife experiences. Flamingos have returned to the lake in varying numbers. You might also see tree-climbing lions, endangered Rothschild's giraffes, and the park's thriving populations of both black and white rhinos. And because the park is relatively compact, your chances of seeing these and other animals are excellent. The park's scenery, too, is a highlight, with the picturesque lake as a centerpiece. The acacia woodlands are especially pretty, and the views of the lake are best from the Out of Africa Lookout (where some scenes from the 1985 film were shot).

Mid-Range Lake Nakuru Lodge

Lake Nakuru Lodge has a corner of Lake Nakuru National Park all to itself. You don't even need to leave the lodge to feel like you're on safari: the views out over the park go on forever, and animals come right up to the lodge's fence. You'll enjoy relaxing here, too, whether in the spa, swimming pool, bar, restaurant, or the spacious rooms, some of which have fine views as well.

Day 2

Day 2 Masai Mara National Reserve

You're in for a really special safari experience on your visit to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This is one of the best places in Kenya to look for big cats. You may see so many elephant, giraffe, Thomson's gazelle, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and hippo that you stop noticing them after a while! And these are just the start: watch for the reserve's population of black rhino, which are present in the Mara Triangle although they can be pretty hard to spot. Beautiful savannah grasslands, acacia trees, distant escarpments and more than 500 possible bird species are other highlights you can look forward to.

Mid-Range Enkorok Mara Camp

In the Masai Mara's Siana Conservancy, Enkorok Mara Camp has pretty mountain views, and wildlife (including elephants) often wanders through camp. The tents here are large and help you to feel both secure and a part of the local environment: listen to lions roaring in the night. It's in a quiet area, and you'll eat well too.

Day 4

Day 4 Serengeti National Park

Visiting the Unesco World Heritage–listed Serengeti is one of the best things you can do on safari. This is a park filled with some of the biggest populations of wildlife in Africa. Here in the Serengeti, there is a very good chance that you will see lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, spotted hyenas, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest and so many other species. The endless horizons of the savannah grasslands are the perfect backdrop for seeing so many animals. And there's no better safari image than the sun setting deep red behind a silhouetted acacia tree deep in the Serengeti.

Mid-Range Osinon Camp

It's impossible to be more central than you are when you stay at Osinon Camp. It's in the wildlife-filled area of Seronera and has safari tents with sitting areas. Animals often pass through the camp. There's a dining tent, and highlights include listening to lions roar in the night and marveling at the endless stars in the night sky.

Day 6

Day 6 Ngorongoro Crater

You’ll learn why magical Ngorongoro is unlike anywhere else in Africa. Cloud forests encircle the crater rim, and the view out across the caldera of this former volcano – quite apart from the altitude – will leave you gasping for air. Your drive down a steep trail carries you onto the crater floor where a unique wildlife offering is added to the sheer beauty of the experience. You’ll share the sunken ecosystem of the crater floor with hyenas, lions, elephants, black rhinos and hippos. An ecosystem that has formed in the crater in the millennia since the volcano wrought its terrible fury upon the land. It could just be one of your best safari days ever.

Luxury Bougainvillea Safari Lodge

Wake up to the sound of birds despite being in the busy town of Karatu. At Bougainvillea Safari Lodge you're surrounded by green gardens and palm trees, and the facilities include a swimming pool, shop and restaurant. The bungalow rooms have mosquito nets, fireplaces and plenty of space, as well as a small outdoor terrace.

Day 7

Day 7 Amboseli National Park

It's possible that you'll never want to leave Amboseli National Park. It's a remarkable place that combines wonderful wildlife viewing with astonishing views, even though it's one of Kenya's smallest major parks. Look for lions and cheetahs, zebras and giraffes, spotted hyenas and wildebeest. Best of all when it comes to animals, Amboseli is known for its population of big-tusked elephants that you can often get really close to. Watching over it all is Mt Kilimanjaro (5895m), Africa's tallest mountain that towers over Amboseli's (and Kenya's) southern boundary.

Mid-Range Kibo Safari Camp

You may be staying just outside Amboseli National Park, but at Kibo Safari Camp you'll have some of the best Mt Kilimanjaro views anywhere in the region. The large safari tents have bucketloads of charm with hand-built wooden furniture and stone floors. Sit back, relax and enjoy the view from the swimming pool or restaurant. The park and its wildlife are a (very) short drive away.
